The Swansboro annual flotilla was last Friday evening. It was a crisp fall evening – actually, it was a pretty darned cold evening – but that didn’t stop folks from lining the bridge and waterfront to see the boats decked out in lights.
We started our evening at Nicky’s with a seafood dinner and then walked over to the waterfront next to the Ice House restaurant. That turned out not to be the best place to get photo’s of the boats, so instead of taking photo’s of them, I enjoyed them along with the rest of the crowd.
As we walked toward the gazebo after the flotilla so that we could see Santa’s arrival, it started to snow. Ok, while I knew that it was cold enough to snow, the sky was as clear as a bell. It was still magical to see the snow flakes falling even though they were coming from a small box at the left of the upper deck. My kind of snow – now you see – now you don’t.
The children waited impatiently for Santa to finally stop cruising around on the boat and head ashore! Amid shouts of “Santa – Santa – Santa, ” old ST Nick made his way through the crowd, stopping here and there to talk with the kids. I was taken with this young lady as Santa stopped to talk with her. I LOVE the look on her face. Isn’t this the most wonderful time of the year?!
